Marktplaats describes its own shipping service for the Netherlands only; whether a private seller posts to the UK is up to that seller, and since Brexit most decline. Order to our Dutch address instead, or let our personal shopper buy the item for you, and we forward it to your UK address.
What do I pay in UK VAT and duty on a Marktplaats purchase?
UK VAT is charged on the declared value from the first pound, also on second-hand goods. Duty comes on top only when the value is above GBP 135, at a rate that depends on the product. The carrier collects both on delivery, often with a handling fee of its own. We declare the price you actually paid.
How do I pay a Dutch Marktplaats seller from the UK?
Private sellers usually want iDEAL or a Tikkie request, both linked to a Dutch bank account, and many refuse PayPal for a buyer abroad.
