Forwarding HEMA orders to the United Kingdom
For Dutch families in the United Kingdom, HEMA means children's clothes in familiar sizes, school supplies, towels and kitchen basics, birthday decorations and the Sinterklaas gifts British shops do not have. HEMA's customer service says that abroad you can only order in Belgium, Germany and France and that delivery to other countries is not possible, so a UK address is refused at checkout. With your Dutch address at DZH you order at hema.nl like a Dutch customer; we receive the parcel, photograph it and bundle several orders into one shipment before it crosses the Channel. Since Brexit that shipment is an import: UK VAT applies from the first pound and duty only above GBP 135.

Does HEMA ship to the UK?
No. HEMA's customer service says that abroad you can only order in Belgium, Germany and France, and that delivery to other countries is not possible. Order to your Dutch address at DZH with your customer code instead, and we forward the parcel to any UK address with tracking and customs paperwork.
What do I pay in UK VAT and duty on a HEMA order?
UK VAT is charged from the first pound of value. Up to GBP 135 there is no duty; above that duty applies as well, depending on the product. The carrier collects these charges before or at delivery. We declare the real purchase value and list the items, so the parcel clears without questions.
Can I return HEMA items from the UK?
Yes, through our address: request the return at HEMA, use our address as the sender and upload the return label with the parcel in My DZH; we hand it to the carrier. Shipping it back from the UK is at your cost, so for low-value HEMA items a return rarely pays off. Check HEMA's return window before you decide.
