Forwarding IKEA orders to the United States
IKEA has stores across the United States, and IKEA Netherlands tells customers in such countries to order there. A Dutch order usually means an item that is Dutch-only or sold out at home. What travels: textiles, kitchenware, decoration and small flat packs go as normal parcels and we forward them. A wardrobe or sofa usually does not: carriers cap length and weight, and a big light box is charged on its volume, so large furniture often exceeds the courier limits or the price makes no sense. Send us the article number before you order and we tell you which it is. Lamps come with EU plugs for 230 V, and US duty applies from the first dollar.

What IKEA does and does not deliver to the United States

IKEA Netherlands' help page says online orders can only be delivered within the Netherlands, and that an order cannot be placed on IKEA.nl or in the IKEA app for delivery to an address abroad.

Frequently asked questions
Does IKEA.nl ship to the USA?
No: IKEA Netherlands says online orders are delivered within the Netherlands only and cannot be placed for an address abroad. With a Dutch delivery address from DZH you order the Dutch range anyway; we receive the parcel, check and photograph it, and forward it to your US address with the customs declaration prepared.
Can you forward large IKEA furniture to the United States?
Often not, and we say so upfront. Carriers limit the length and weight of a parcel, and a large flat pack is charged on its volume as well as its weight, so a bookcase or bed frame frequently falls outside the courier limits or costs more than it is worth. Small items and compact flat packs travel fine. Send us the article number first.
What US duty do I pay on IKEA items?
Since the suspension of the de-minimis exemption, duty applies from the first dollar; the rate depends on the product and on the country where it was made, which for IKEA is often not the Netherlands, so there is no flat rate. We declare the purchase price on your IKEA order and the carrier collects any duty on delivery.
