Forwarding IKEA orders to Australia
Australia has IKEA stores of its own, and IKEA Netherlands advises customers there to use them; IKEA.nl delivers within the Netherlands only. A Dutch order is for the item your local store does not carry. Small goods travel well: textiles, kitchenware, decoration and compact flat packs are parcels, and up to AUD 1,000 Australia charges only 10 % GST on arrival. Large furniture is a different story. Parcel carriers cap length and weight, and a long light flat pack is priced on its volume, so a bed or wardrobe is often impossible or absurdly expensive over that distance. What IKEA does and does not deliver to Australia

IKEA Netherlands' help page says online orders can only be delivered within the Netherlands, and that an order cannot be placed on IKEA.nl or in the IKEA app for delivery to an address abroad.

Does IKEA.nl ship to Australia?
No. IKEA Netherlands says online orders are delivered within the Netherlands only and cannot be placed for an address abroad, and it points customers in countries with IKEA stores to those stores. For a Dutch-only item, order to your DZH address; we receive the parcel, check it and forward it to Australia with the customs declaration prepared.
What do I pay in Australia on an IKEA parcel?
Up to AUD 1,000 in value nothing is charged at the border. Above that, 10 % GST and duty (usually 5 %) apply and the carrier collects them before delivery, sometimes with a processing fee. We declare the real purchase value and a clear description, so the parcel clears without questions.
Can you forward a large IKEA flat pack to Australia?
Usually not, and we would rather say so now. Parcel carriers set a maximum length and weight, and a long box is charged on its volume rather than its real weight, which over this distance makes a bed or wardrobe either unacceptable to the carrier or far more expensive than the furniture. Small flat packs, textiles and kitchenware are fine; send us the article number.
