Pokémon card forwarding from Europe: Cardmarket, Marktplaats and eBay

You collect Pokémon cards and live in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Switzerland or Norway. The single, the booster box or the graded card you want is for sale from a seller in the Netherlands or elsewhere in Europe, but they won't ship to your country. This article covers that direction: from a European seller to you.

A Dutch delivery address often solves it: you buy, we receive the parcels from every seller, combine them into one box and forward it to you with the customs paperwork. Each platform has its own rules, though, so below we go through what works and what doesn't, platform by platform. Cardmarket: read the rules first

Cardmarket, a large European marketplace for trading cards, operates in 32 countries: the whole EU plus the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The US, Canada and Australia are not on that list, so you can't open an account with an address there. That is what Cardmarket's help pages said when we checked them on 28 September 2026.

Cardmarket explicitly warns against opening an account with a fake or random address, which it says leads to delivery problems and lost shipments. Whether an account with a Dutch forwarding address is allowed is for Cardmarket to decide, not DZH. Ask Cardmarket's customer support before you open an account or buy anything.

Marktplaats and eBay: sellers who only ship within the Netherlands

On Marktplaats, the Dutch classifieds site, the seller decides whether to ship at all. Its built-in shipping service, with PostNL, DHL, Budbee or Brenger, doesn't work to or from abroad, but a Dutch delivery address falls within it. Agree that the seller ships to your DZH address with your customer code, and choose delivery to the address rather than a pickup point or locker. If they only sell for collection, ask us whether we can pick it up.

On eBay, the seller chooses which countries they ship to and which they exclude. If they only ship within the Netherlands, choose your DZH address at checkout. eBay's guarantee runs until delivery to that address; under eBay's policy, the onward forwarding isn't covered by it. We insure that part: just let us know when a shipment is worth more than usual.

Receiving, combining and forwarding your cards

Cards often arrive in small shipments from different sellers. We keep them until everything is in and, on request, combine them into one box: you pay for shipping once, and outside the EU there is a single customs clearance. The first days of storage are included; combining appears as a separate line on your invoice.

Sleeves, toploaders and sturdy packing are the seller's job; Cardmarket gives its sellers a packing guide and calls bubble envelopes risky for cards. We don't judge whether a card is genuine. If you want to see what arrived, or want it packed more securely, request 'Check the items', 'Take extra photos' or 'Repack' in My DZH; each extra has a fixed price that you see beforehand.

Customs outside the EU: what you pay and what we declare

In the US, low-value shipments have had no exemption since 29 August 2025: even a box with a few cards can be charged duty. According to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), that suspension still applies. The rate depends on the tariff code and the country of origin; Cardmarket gives the code 9504 40 00 (playing cards) for cards.

For destinations outside the EU, you enter each item's description, real value, origin and tariff code in My DZH; the value is what you paid. Exactly that goes on the customs paperwork. Declaring a lower value or 'gift' is customs fraud, and the insurance only covers the declared value. Thresholds and rates per country are in our article on import duties.
